We are completely full for the 2013 - 2014 school year.
Since our program is in high demand, we recommend that families who are interested in the program place their name
on our notification list by filling out this form.
Doing so will ensure that you will be notified as soon as we open registration for new classes.
Archimedes Math Schools is a non-profit organization
that was founded by math professors in Winnipeg who recognize the need for a low cost after-school
math program for elementary school children. With the exception of our university student teachers,
all individuals involved with the day-to-day operation of Archimedes Math Schools are unpaid volunteers.
We run after-school math classes for children in Grades 4, 5 and 6. All lessons are planned by university math professors, who volunteer
with the program, and are delivered by university math students.
Our goal is to provide a structured and comfortable environment where children may expand their
knowledge, improve their skills, increase their confidence
and develop an appreciation for mathematics.
The classes are intended to be an extended version of a math club that Professors Anna and Ross Stokke ran out of their home for three years.
More detailed information about our program can be found on this page
We currently have 107 students attending our program for the 2013-2014 school year.
A total of 61 children completed our program in the 2012-2013 school year, most of whom returned
to complete another year with us.
Tuition fees for our program are set at a rate required to sustain the program and to provide bursaries based on financial need.
In addition to our regular after-school program, we successfully ran a 2-week Math
out of the University of Winnipeg's
Wii Chiiwaakanak Learning Centre
August 19-August 30, 2013. We are grateful to Wii Chiiwaakanak Learning Centre for their partnership and are looking
forward to running future programs out of the centre!
